Event Details

A workshop with expert teacher Meghan Maris who has been teaching for over 20 years and is currently getting a masters degree from LMU in Yoga Studies.

We will explore practice in action on our yoga mats. A traditional Hatha yoga class with the aim to directly experience how dedicated yoga practice renders the clarity of mind to take action with greater sensitivity and awareness expanding our ability to be more compassionate, loving, and accountable to ourselves, others, and Earth.

Then we will explore a general overview of Yoga’s long and evolving history. The purpose of this discussion will be to highlight key philosophical developments and intersections within the many dharmic traditions of South Asia dislodging the perception of yoga being one long monolithic tradition. We will also critically investigate the role that colonialism has played in the way that the west has inherited, understands (or misunderstands), and practices yoga today.
