This holiday-themed concert includes two choral masterworks by Benjamin Britten. “Saint Nicolas” tells the dramatic life of the fourth-century Bishop of Myra. The work recounts the saint’s many trials and tribulations, his faith and devotion to God, and some of his most celebrated acts and miracles. In addition to the choir, the work will feature strings, percussion, a piano duet, organ, and tenor soloist Les Green. “A Ceremony of Carols” is one of Britten’s most performed works. A collection of short poems set to song, the musical imagery is enriched by a harp accompaniment.
Festival Chorale Oregon, voted “Best Live Music” in the Best of the Willamette Valley Awards, is a choir of talented amateur and professional singers from the mid-Willamette Valley, sharing our passion for musical artistry and choral masterworks with the community. FCO is proudly led by our founding artistic director, Dr. Solveig Holmquist, recognized by the American Choral Directors Association as one of 15 U.S. and Canadian “Women Choral Conductors You Should Know.”
