Event Details

The total solar eclipse of 21 August 2017 will sweep across the entire United States continent. Every American living in the 48 contiguous states and Alaska will be able to see a partial eclipse and millions of Americans will enjoy one of nature’s most spectacular displays by either living along its path or by driving less than a day from their homes. The moon’s shadow (about 100 km wide) will traverse a huge landmass, starting from Oregon and ending in South Carolina, in an uninterrupted manner, over a span of approximately 90 minutes. The last time the US witnessed such an event was on July 29,1878.  Where will YOU be in 2017? Come listen to OMSI Director of Space Science Education, Jim Todd, talk about the eclipse and the best way to view it, and the different stages of the eclipse. The discussion will take close to half an hour and followed with questions and answers. This is your time to inquire about all things eclipse related!
